I wanted to give a bit of a helping hand for those that don’t know how to configure Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume per input on their AVRs. Here are the settings I use:
Blu Ray player
- Dynamic EQ on with offset of -5 (I find 0 way too aggressive for most content so -5 is a great middle ground without having to figure it out)
- Dynamic Volume on Light (Day) mode
- Reference Curve (or flat with CinemaEQ on)
Apple TV (Streaming Services)
- Dynamic EQ on with offset of -10
- Dynamic Volume off (as most streaming is compressed)
- Flat or Reference Curve (Flat is probably more correct but I prefer reference)
The -10 offset is a good setting as most TV shows and movies with near-field mixes sound alright with this setting. Music is also mixed around -10dB down from reference.
However, if you wanted to, you can switch DynamicEQ to offset 0 for movies (as Dialogue Normalisation is enabled by default on Apple TV before decoding which generally offsets movies by -4dB therefore the 0 offset sounds fine.)
Xbox Series X (or whatever game console you have connected)
- Dynamic EQ on with offset of -10
- Dynamic Volume on Light or Off (depends on which game and when I’m playing)
- Flat or Reference Curve (Flat is probably more correct but I prefer reference)

Marantz 6012 doesn’t have hdmi 2.1 so every source is coming tvs earc so no different inputs.
You can use either an RLO of 10 or 5 dependent on your viewing habits. 10 for TV show heavy / mixed and 5 for movie heavy / mixed viewing.
