Not everyone is aware that they can control Yamaha receivers with a web browser. However, even fewer people know that there are TWO web interfaces on higher-end Yamaha receivers, with one geared towards installers.
Pre-Configuration
Firstly, your receiver needs to be connected to your router – either through Wifi or through an ethernet cable.
Secondly, your laptop / PC / Mac / Phone and your receiver need to be on the same Wifi network / connecting to the same router.
To get the IP address for your receiver, you have three options:
- You can look under Network Setup in the menu on the receiver.
- Download the Yamaha iPhone App called Yamaha AV Controller which will show the IP address for your receiver as it connects to it.
- Another option is to check in your router’s interface which IP the receiver has been allocated.
Standard Web Interface
The standard web interface is accessed using the IP address of the receiver as below (substitute IP address of course):
This interface is pretty minimal and looks like the below screenshot. I would recommend using the iPhone App called Yamaha AV Controller which has the functions and more.
Installer Web Interface
What is a lot more useful though is the installer web interface which is accessed by appending setup/ to the end of the web address like so:

This interface exposes all the functions of the receiver and does so in a more logical and hierarchical manner than the menu system. In fact, there are some options that are easier to configure and access from here than the menus – PEQ filters being one of them.
If you are serious about setting up your Yamaha, I would recommend you get familiar with this interface – if your unit has it.
Which Models are Proven to Work?
All Aventage – and equivalent RX-V models should work with both interfaces.
RX-A1000, RX-2000, RX-3000, RX-A1010, RX-2010, RX-3010, RX-A1020, RX-2020, RX-3020, RX-A1030, RX-2030, RX-3030, RX-A1040, RX-2040, RX-3040, RX-A1050, RX-2050, RX-3050, RX-A1060, RX-2060, RX-3060, RX-A1070, RX-2070, RX-3070, RX-A1080, RX-2080, RX-3080 and their RX-V10XX, RX-V20XX, RX-V30XX equivalents.
Both interfaces should work with the newer RX-A2A, RX-A4A, RX-A6A, RX-A8A and their older RX-V4A, RX-V6A, RX-V8A siblings, but the interface might look different.
That’s great Roland, it’s the one thing I haven’t done with my Yamaha rx-a3070, I’ll try it out, I’m using my Sony xz xperia premium phone to do updates for 3070, so I should be able to access it, the peq filter’s should be interesting, in 3070 it’s OK, I found my centre channel was a bit to bright for my liking and tweaked a bit, to a point I’m happy with, I’ll say it again, I love my 3070, it’s such a capable unit, you do need to take some time and research, to get it all right, but once you do the rewards are outstanding.
Is there anyone who has the first one web interface (Standard Web Interface; http://IP-Address/) working with A1080? Me not. The second works OK.
Well, you can either install the Yamaha control app on your phone or go into your wireless router’s management settings and look at the connection list!

RX-A880 definitely works with the setup app.
av controller what port to set to use this app from out of wifi…. ?
UDP port 1900 for discovery, TCP 80 for control.
