Denon has launched the AVR-A10H, a high-end 13.4-channel AV receiver priced at $4,699. Positioned as a more affordable alternative to the $6,499 AVR-A1H, the AVR-A10H still offers robust features for home theater enthusiasts, in a more affordable package. Looking at its key features and performance, this is more of a replacement for the previous X8500HA flagship but with Dirac Live support.
Key Features
- Channel Configuration: 13 amplified channels and four subwoofer outputs, supporting up to 7.4.6 or 9.4.4 setups – same as the A1H.
- Front Wide Channels: this AVR supports front wide channels, which the lower-end AVRs from Denon do not, apart from the X6800H.
- Audio Formats: Compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, and Auro-3D – same as the A1H.
- DACs: Nine 2-channel ESS DACs for high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz – this is new.
Performance
- Power Output: Delivers 150 watts per channel (two channels driven), matching the AVR-A1Hโs output, though the A1Hโs power delivery is more robust across all channels – as the weight difference also confirms: the A10H only weights 23kgs, while the A1H weights 32kgs.
- Power Supply: Features a new oxygen-free copper (OFC) transformer, enhancing power purity and reducing noise for improved sound clarity – compared to the lower-end models and the X8500HA.
- Audio Processing: Advanced ESS DACs provide precise, distortion-free playback, supporting high-resolution audio formats to bring out the finest details in every track.
- Tuning and Quality Control: Hand-tuned by Denonโs Sound Master, Shinichi Yamauchi, at Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, ensuring a meticulously crafted โvivid and spaciousโ sound profile. Each unit undergoes rigorous testing to meet high standards of audio excellence.
Connectivity
- HDMI: Seven HDMI inputs (8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz) and three outputs (1x 4K/120Hz, 2x 8K/60Hz), supporting HDMI ARC/eARC.
- Other Inputs: Two optical, two coaxial, six analog, and three legacy video inputs. Dedicated MM phono input included.
Additional Features
- Preamp Capabilities: 15 channel pre-outs for external amplification (excluding subwoofers)
- Room Calibration: Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and optional Dirac Live Room Correction and Bass Control.
- Streaming: HEOS multi-room audio, Apple AirPlay 2, and integration with streaming services.
Availability
The AVR-A10H will be available from October 1, 2024, at $4,699. It includes a 3-year warranty.
