JVC Autocal runs automatic calibration on JVC Projectors to dial in greyscale, gamma and the Colour Management System.

If you have a JVC projector, this guide is a must-have. It walks you through using the autocalibration feature and fine-tuning the image to perfection. Without proper guidance, itโs easy to mess up the factory calibration, but this guide helps you navigate the process and achieve a flawless picture. Before using this guide, I had to make a lot of manual corrections, but now, I barely need to make any adjustments.

Hi there! Can this guide be used for the NZ800/NZ900?
Hi Hoi,
Yes, you can use it for the new machines. Just use the NZ8/NZ9 procedure! Thatโs what I did for my review. Thx!
Can I use the guide for the X – Series? X700 & X7900 in particular. Thank you
Yes. It works for the x-series as well.
Hello Roland, I purchased your two part calibration guide and then came across the JVC Autocal Guide so got it as well. I recently upgraded form the JVC RS400 (X550) to the RS2000 (NX7).
I was reading through your the Autocal guide and came across the HDMI Board Failure problem. After purchasing the unit I came across references to a DD failure and guess this is what they are talking about.
In hooked up both projectors shooting them at the same screen and used the hide button to compare the two projectors using the same source materials. hooked an xbox up to each and tried streaming from prime and playing blu rays. I honestly think the 400 has a better picture. I used a Panasonic DPUB820 hooked up the rs2000 to check 4k and to me it was about same as blu ray on the other projector. Granted, the 4k was sharper, but also darker. (neither unit has been professionally calibrated. Just me messing around with settings by eye)
My question to you is,
The HDMI board failure chance has me wondering if I should just try to get my money back on this projector and sell it. I am really happy with the RS400 picture and really thought I was going to be blown away by the RS2000 but thats just not the case. I purchased your guides thinking before I sell it I would try calibrating it to see If I would see that huge improvement I was expecting, but now, after reading on the HDMI board I am back to wondering if I should just sell it and maybe move up to something in the x570-x970 or the x590-x990 range.
What are your thoughts, Step back to a previous model or stick it out with this unit?
Do you think the previous models mentioned outperform the RS2000 ?
I did get what I believe was a pretty good price on it. $2700 after shipping and ebay fees. Previous owner put 2000 hours on it, then purchased a new bulb which has 200 hours on it.
Thanks,
Richard
Hi Richard,
This is a difficult question that only you can answer. If you feel you prefer your RS400, then I would let go of the RS2000. Youโd really need to move up to an NZ8, NZ800 or an NZ700 to start seeing the benefits of the 4K panels with great contrast. The RS2000 was indeed somewhat lackluster in that regard.
Sorry, one more question, on your Sensors article you recommend the Calibrate Sensors, but in the JVC Autocal guide, Alternate Sensors, Option 2 you lean towards the i1display Pro.
I did read though OMARDRIS post and it seems like option 2 supports the Calibrite Display Pro HL but I am not a 100% sure of that. Would prefer the a sensor option I can use in both Autocal and HCFR.
Your thoughts?
Thanks.
Ah itโs one and the same thingโฆ
i1Display Pro = Calibrite Display Pro sensors. They are just managed by a different company under a different name. Yes, option 2 supports the new sensors including the Pro HL. HCFR should also work with it.
